Bihar SIR: Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, opposition parties have so far remained silent following the release of the final voter list in Bihar on Tuesday. However, this silence is expected to end by Dussehra as the opposition parties are prepared to confront the Election Commission (EC) over the alleged irregularities in the revision process of the voter list.
Congress and other opposition parties have tasked their electoral and legal experts with analysing discrepancies between the draft and final voter list, particularly focusing on the inconsistencies in the number of names added or removed from the voter list, Jagran.com reported.
“This is a serious matter that concerns the credibility of our democracy. There’s no need for an immediate reaction without a thorough assessment. Our electoral and data experts are currently analysing the final voter list in detail,” Jagran.com quoted a senior Congress strategist as saying.
The opposition parties had earlier taken the EC to the Supreme Court over the draft voter list under the SIR process. They are now preparing to take the EC once again to the Apex Court, this time exposing flaws in the entire SIR exercise, including discrepancies in the names added and deleted in the final voter list.

With the Supreme Court hearing scheduled for October 7, the opposition is reportedly planning to use their study to highlight the alleged discrepancies in the voter list. Their aim is to present a detailed case before the court, accusing the EC of alleged irregularities in the voter list in Bihar.
