Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Patna on a two-day visit to Bihar starting May 29. During his visit, he will lay the foundation stone of the country’s second-largest power generation facility at Bikramganj in Rohtas on May 30. The ambitious project—a super thermal power plant—will be constructed in Nabinagar, Aurangabad district, at an estimated cost of Rs 29,947.91 crore.
The plant, once completed, will supply 2400 MW of electricity to Bihar. As part of NTPC's expansion plans, this will be the company's second-largest power generation unit in India. The Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Station (NSTPS) has been approved for Stage-2 capacity expansion, which includes the development of three units of 800 MW each.

This significant boost in Bihar’s energy infrastructure is expected to meet the state’s growing electricity demands and generate employment for thousands of people.
“Thanks to Prime Minister Modi for approving the Stage-2 capacity expansion of Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Station in view of Bihar’s increasing energy needs. This initiative will provide employment to thousands and elevate NTPC’s plant to the second-largest in the country,” said Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
