Patna: Residents of Bihar are all set to benefit from improved transport infrastructure, as more than six rail overbridges (ROBs) are expected to be completed across the state this year. These new ROBs will ease traffic congestion, improve road connectivity, and reduce accidents at railway crossings.
Currently, construction is underway on 14 rail overbridges under a cost-sharing model between the Railways and the state government. The Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation is responsible for building the approach roads to these overbridges, as per Jagran.com reported.
Key Projects Nearing Completion
One of the key ROBs under construction is between Chausa and Gahmar railway stations in Buxar, where the railway portion has already been completed. The approach road is being developed and is likely to be finished by June 2025.
Another ROB between Buxar and Baruna is also expected to be ready by June. Similarly, in Rohtas district, a bridge between Karbandia and Mughalsarai is in progress. Although the railway part is still ongoing, the approach road is being built and the entire project is expected to wrap up this year.
In Kaimur, work is ongoing on the ROB between Pusauli and Muthani stations. The railway's part has been completed, and the bridge corporation is working on the approach road, which was initially set for completion in March but is now likely to be finished within this year.
December Deadline for Some Projects
In Sitamarhi, the ROB between Parsauni and Sitamarhi is still under construction, and the approach road is scheduled for completion by December 2025.
Meanwhile, in Bhagalpur, the ROB being built between Naugachia and Katoria is also expected to be completed before the year ends.
Once operational, these ROBs will significantly improve local travel and ensure safer crossings, especially in areas that previously relied on level crossings.
