Bihar News: Vehicles operating in Bihar without valid permission, insurance, or pollution certificates will soon be issued e-challans. The relevant vehicle owner will receive the e-challan on their mobile number. To do this, the e-detection portal will be connected to all toll plazas as well as the municipal corporation area's smart city system.

The Transport Department has approved this proposal of the Police Headquarters.

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reports that over 8,000 persons in Bihar have lost their lives in traffic accidents in a year. The majority of these fatalities occur on the National Highway (NH), which raises alarm.

To manage this, compliance with permits, insurance, motor vehicle taxes, fitness, and other requirements must be vigorously enforced.

Following the introduction of the e-detection portal, it will be easier to identify vehicles that are breaking the rules and collect penalties from them. Buses operating without permits can also be monitored. Apart from the toll plazas on national highways, it is planned to be implemented throughout all of the state's smart city networks, including the Patna Municipal Corporation region.

How E-Detection Portal Works

The e-detection gateway is an excellent system. When vehicles driving through NH toll plazas come into touch with Fastag, all of the vehicle's data, including the picture, is transmitted to the software. This data is then compared with data accessible on the NIC's (National Informatics Centre) vehicle site.

This allows one to view up-to-date information on the vehicle's registration, fitness, insurance, pollution control certificate, and driver's license. If a defect is discovered, the guilty drivers are handed an e-challan. All of these operations happen autonomously via the e-detection portal.
