Bollywood legend Dharmendra passed away at the age of 89 on November 24 after suffering from prolonged health issues. His demise has left the country in a state of shock. Several celebrities from the industry paid tribute to the veteran actor. Amitabh Bachchan also paid tribute to his Sholay co-star and mourned his demise with a heartfelt message on X. In the post, he talked about the void and pain he has been feeling after his friend’s death.
Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “T 5575 - ... another valiant Giant has left us .. left the arena .. leaving behind a silence with an unbearable sound .. Dharam ji .. .. the epitome of greatness, ever linked not only for his renowned physical presence, but for the largeness of his heart , and its most endearing simplicity .. .. he brought with him the earthiness of the village in Punjab he came from , and remained true to its temperament .. un soiled throughout his glorious career , in a fraternity that witnessed changes every decade .. ... the fraternity underwent changes .. not him .. his smile, his charm and his warmth , extending to all that came in his vicinity .. a rarity in the profession .. .. the air about us swings vacant .. .. a vacuum that shall ever remain vacuus .. .. prayers.”

On November 24, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and several other members of the film fraternity attended the funeral of Dharmendra at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle.

The legendary actor was hospitalised at Breach Candy Hospital earlier this month after complaining of breathlessness. He was discharged on November 12. Since he was discharged, he has been taking medical treatment at home. But passed away on the 24th, days before his 90th birthday.
Notably, Dharmendra’s last film was Ikkis, which is set to be released in the coming month. The movie marks the legendary actor’s last movie. It also features Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, Aadyanshi Kapoor, Ekavali Khanna, Shree Bishnoi and Sikandar Kher in key roles. It has been directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Binny Padda. The release date is yet to be announced by the makers. The movie is expected to be released in December.
