The  Bihar government has presented a blueprint for development in the sports sector for the year 2026. Under the Saat Nischay Yojana (03), a state-of-the-art Sports City will be established in Patna, with work set to begin soon. Provision has also been made to establish Centres of Excellence in all districts across the state, tailored to the popular sports of each region, to provide high-level training to local talent. 

To provide opportunities for talent from rural and semi-urban areas, 64 Eklavya Sports Centres (Eklavya Khel Kendra) will be made operational in the state. New applications will be invited for the Prerna, Utthan and Utkarsh categories under the sports scholarship scheme, so that a greater number of players can be encouraged.

To further strengthen the sports administration and training system, large-scale appointments will be made through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), Bihar Technical Services Commission (BTSC) and Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC). The department stated that in 2025, prestigious competitions such as the Khelo India Youth Games, Asia Men's Hockey, Asian Rugby Sevens (Under 20) and the All India Civil Services Athletics Championship were organised. 

The international cricket stadium in Rajgir was inaugurated, and the construction of 257 block-level outdoor stadiums was completed. Under the Mashal talent search campaign, more than 4.2 million students from 34,000 schools were connected with sports.

Expanding the Eklavya Sports Schools, more than 60 schools were established across 23 sports disciplines, ensuring a minimum of one school in each district.
