Bihar Voter List Revision: Since the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced to hold a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive to revise the voter list, the issue emerged as the latest political flashpoint in poll-bound Bihar. Congress Bihar in-charge Krishna Allavaru on Monday said his party and all members of the INDIA bloc oppose the EC's voter list revision initiative ahead of the election.
Speaking to the media at the Patna airport, Allavaru alleged that the BJP was behind the move. "The BJP was using back channels to remove the names of minorities, the poor, and backward caste people from the voter list. Now they are doing the same through the Election Commission in Bihar. We strongly object to this move by the ECI. It is a big conspiracy by the BJP to prevent poor, Dalit, and minority voters from participating in the electoral process ahead of the crucial Bihar Assembly elections in 2025," Allavaru said.

Tejashwi Yadav Slams ECI’s Voter List Revision In Bihar
Leader of Opposition and RJD leader, Tejashwi Yadav also attacked the the poll body and the state government, alleging that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in the election year is a threat to democracy and an attempt to snatch voting rights from the poor and youth.
“Why is there a sudden need to revise the voter list after 22 years? Last time in 2003, the process took two years; now it is being attempted in two months,” Yadav said.
The RJD highlighted that Bihar is currently facing rains and floods, making it nearly impossible for the poor to arrange and submit documents, particularly when many do not possess birth certificates, citizenship documents, or even accepted Aadhaar/MNREGA cards.
