Bihar Weather Update: IMD Issues Cold Wave, Dense Fog Alert For THESE Districts; Check Forecast For Patna

Bihar Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the minimum temperature in Bihar is likely to significantly drop in the upcoming days. The weather department stated that several northern states, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, are likely to witness dense fog and cold waves due to an active Western Disturbance. The presence of dense fog in the early hours is likely to trouble the commuters and will also severely affect the rail and flight services. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings in the morning hours to avoid inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including the capital city Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Munger, Chhapra, and Purnea, witnessed fog and a cold wave on Friday. The dense fog persisted throughout the day in most of these districts, leading to a sharp drop in the visibility. The IMD stated that the minimum temperature of Patna dropped by 8.6 degrees Celsius below normal on Friday.

The weather department further stated that the minimum temperature in several districts, including Patna, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, and Gaya, was even recorded below Jammu. The minimum temperature was recorded at 12.2 degrees Celsius in Gaya city. Apart from this, the minimum temperature in other 22 districts also remained around 10 degrees Celsius. The IMD stated that Kishanganj recorded the highest maximum temperature of the state at 25.1 degrees Celsius.

The IMD stated that at least 30 districts will witness dense fog in the upcoming few days, further advising the passengers to plan their travel accordingly. The high humidity of 94 percent and the influence of westerly winds will contribute to the persistent fog. The district administration has also been advised to stay alert and take necessary steps to ensure the safety of the residents.
