Flight Cancellation Updates: A total of 129 flights have been cancelled for the day at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, said IGI Airport. The cancelled flights include 66 arrival planes and 63 departing flights.

 

Indian aviation giants, Air India and IndiGo, have issued passenger advisories to inform flyers about fog-related disruptions, such as delays and cancellations, as reduced visibility affects flight operations. The airlines requested that their passengers stay calm and patient, as service gradually returned to normal.

In its advisory, issued late on Friday, Air India said that it understands passengers’ travel plans, particularly in the holiday season, and was doing everything to mitigate fog-related disruptions. The airline further promised to work around the clock to reduce the impact and inconvenience due to fog-related disruption.

Citing the weather forecast by the weather department, the airline warned its passengers about possible delays, saying that flight operations are likely to be affected at Delhi, Amritsar (ATQ), Chandigarh (IXC), Lucknow (LKO), Varanasi (VNS), and Patna (PAT), with a ripple effect across the network, due to dense fog conditions in Delhi and parts of northern and eastern India.

Passengers On Select Flights To Get Full Refund/Other Flights

The advisory further added that passengers booked on select flights during the fog window would continue to receive advance alerts under the 'FogCare initiative'. These passengers will have the option to change flights without additional payment or to demand a full refund without penalty.

The airline further urged passengers to check flight status before leaving for the airport.

IndiGo’s Operations Hit Amid Thick Fog

The giant of domestic aviation, IndiGo, informed its passengers about the operational disruptions across Chandigarh and Amritsar due to significantly reduced visibility, affecting flights to and from these cities. The airline recommended that passengers check the latest flight status on its website or app before proceeding to the airport.

Delhi Airport Issues Advisory

In an advisory issued on Saturday morning, the airport stated that low visibility procedures are still in progress, but all flight operations are functioning normally.

"Low Visibility Procedures are still in progress at Delhi Airport. All flight operations are functioning normally. Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight updates," said the statement.
