Giving a big boost to Bihar's railway infrastructure, the Ministry of Railways has approved the Final Location Survey (FLS) for 12 new projects under the East Central Railway (ECR). These surveys will cost more than Rs 10.51 crore.
Saraswati Chandra, the Chief Public Relations Officer of ECR, gave this information on Wednesday. He explained that a Final Location Survey (FLS) is the final and most crucial step before any major construction project, especially for laying a new railway line. It is a detailed survey that is done after a specific route has been selected.
The major approved projects are as follows:
- Under this initiative, an important project is set to reduce traffic pressure at Muzaffarpur Junction. For this, a survey will be conducted for the construction of the 23-kilometer-long Jubba Sahni Bypass at a survey cost of Rs 69 lakh.
- Other major projects approved for survey primarily include three doubling works (which means adding a second railway track alongside the existing one):
- 129 km long Sakri-Forbesganj (survey cost: Rs 3.09 crore)
- 85 km long Samastipur-Hasanpur-Khagaria (survey cost: Rs 2.37 crore)
- 97 km long Ara-Sasaram (survey cost: Rs 2.32 crore)
Additionally, surveys for new lines have also been approved. These include a 22-kilometer-long Lalitgram-Birpur new line (near the Nepal border) with a survey cost of Rs 66 lakh, and a 10-kilometer-long Fatuha-Bidupur new line, which includes a bridge over the Ganga river, with a survey cost of Rs 30 lakh.
Other projects include surveys for a rail flyover near Fatuha, new bypasses in Pandit DeenDayal Upadhyay, Neura, and Daniyawan, and for lines connecting Patliputra to Phulwari Sharif and Danapur.
