  1. DPR and Final Location Survey approved for new corridor.
  2. Reduce Delhi-Jaipur travel time by one to one-and-a-half hours.
  3. Enhance industrial connectivity for Neemrana and Kotputli regions.

Delhi-Jaipur Rail Corridor: Passengers could soon travel between Delhi and Jaipur more quickly, as the Railway Board has given the green light to the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and the 'Final Location Survey' for the proposed Delhi-Rewari-Jaipur rail corridor.

The proposed 191-km railway line is expected to ease congestion on the existing route via Alwar and Bandikui, which often experiences heavy traffic and delays. The new corridor, passing through Neemrana and Kotputli, could reduce travel time between Delhi and Jaipur by around one to one-and-a-half hours. However, the actual time savings will depend on the final alignment, project execution and train operations.

The development comes after Rao Rajendra Singh, BJP MP from Jaipur, met Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday and requested that preparations for the DPR be expedited.

Delhi-Jaipur rail corridor: Key benefits

1. Reduced travel time

The alternative route could cut travel time between Delhi and Jaipur by around one to one-and-a-half hours while easing pressure on the existing railway network.

2. Smoother operations for long-distance trains

Trains travelling from Delhi via Rewari towards Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Mumbai could benefit from an alternative route, potentially improving operational efficiency and reducing delays.

3. Better industrial connectivity

The corridor is expected to strengthen rail links to industrial centres in Haryana and Rajasthan, particularly Neemrana and Kotputli.
