Indian Railways Updates: Bihar is set to receive another Amrit Bharat Express, connecting Sitamarhi to Delhi, on Saturday, August 8. The launch will coincide with the ceremonial foundation stone laying of a grand Janaki Temple at Punaura Dham, believed to be the mythological birthplace of Goddess Sita in Sitamarhi district.

“Sitamarhi-Delhi Amrit Bharat Express train will be flagged off by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 08.08.25 from Punaura Dham, Sitamarhi through video conferencing,” the East Central Railway (ECR) zone said in a statement. 

Sitamarhi To Delhi Amrit Bharat Express: Route 

Currently, 14 Amrit Bharat Express train services are operational across the country. These include:

Darbhanga-Anand Vihar Terminal

Anand Vihar Terminal-Darbhanga

Malda Town-SMVT Bengaluru

SMVT Bengaluru-Malda Town

Mumbai LTT-Saharsa

Saharsa-Mumbai LTT

Rajendra Nagar Terminal-New Delhi

New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Terminal

Darbhanga-Gomti Nagar

Gomti Nagar-Darbhanga

Malda Town-Gomti Nagar

Gomti Nagar-Malda Town

Bapudham Motihari-Anand Vihar Terminal

Sitamarhi To Delhi Amrit Bharat Express: Travel Time And Distance 

The train will cover approximately 1,100 km in 20 hours and 45 minutes. Sitamarhi is already served by the 15557/15558 Darbhanga-Anand Vihar Terminal-Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express.

Sitamarhi To Delhi Amrit Bharat Express: Stoppages 

The Delhi-Sitamarhi-Delhi Amrit Bharat Express will operate with train numbers 14048 and 14047. On its regular route, the train will make stops at 13 stations: Ghaziabad, Tundla, Kanpur, Lucknow, Gonda, Basti, Gorakhpur, Kaptanganj, Siswa Bazar, Bagaha, Narkatiaganj, Raxaul, and Bairgania.

Sitamarhi To Delhi Amrit Bharat Express: Frequency

The new Amrit Bharat Express between Sitamarhi and Delhi is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 130 kmph. It is scheduled to operate once a week, with departures from Delhi to Sitamarhi every Saturday and the return journey from Sitamarhi to Delhi every Sunday.

Sitamarhi To Delhi Amrit Bharat Express: Launch Timing 

The train will depart from Delhi at 14:00 hrs and arrive in Sitamarhi at 10:45 hrs the next day. For the return journey, the Sitamarhi–Delhi Amrit Bharat Express will leave Sitamarhi at 22:15 hrs and reach Delhi at 22:40 hrs the following day.
