A 50-year-old man was killed for allegedly stealing a cauliflower from a farm in Bihar’s East Champaran district on Tuesday. The incident took place when the victim, identified as Raghunath Prasad, was returning to his home on November 28 and he was attacked by two men with batons and sharp-edged weapons, the victim's family said.  

Prasad was critically injured in the attack and was admitted to a nearby Primary Health Centre (PMC) in Madhuban block where he succumbed to his injuries.The victim’s family have lodged a complaint against the attackers, who are still on the run. 

After the incident was reported, Madhuban SHO Raman Kumar and circle inspector Ashok Kumar Pandey visited the crime scene and launched a probe. They said they are trying to arrest the accused as soon as possible.

“We have received a written complaint from the victim's family. Accordingly, an FIR has been registered against two persons and a probe is on. The accused is at large. We are making efforts to nab them,” said Subodh Kumar, SHO of Pakri Dayal range of East Champaran district as reported by news agency IANS.

They said that after the initial investigation, the motive behind the attack is believed to be a dispute over the cauliflower.
