Ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, scheduled to take place later this year, an ex-IPS officer, Shivdeep Lande, has launched a political party named ‘Hind Sena Party’. Lande announced, while addressing reporters in Patna on Tuesday. He said that his party will contest all 243 constituencies in Bihar, declaring himself the national president of ‘Hind Sena’ and said his public relations campaign would continue in Bihar. He said that the aim of his party was to fight for the rights of Bihar and bring the youth into leadership roles.

The "Hind Sena" is set to contest its first election in Bihar later this year, joining forces with "Jan Suraj," a party founded by a prominent political strategist.

2006-batch IPS officer, Lande, took voluntary retirement from service last year, and the President of India accepted his resignation in January this year. Notably, the 49-year-old former IPS officer is the son-in-law of Vijay Shivtare, a Shiv Sena leader and former Maharashtra minister.

He claimed, "I am not looking for any shortcuts to enjoying power. After my resignation, I received the offer of a Rajya Sabha ticket from an established party. But I was pursuing my own ideals. I travelled across Bihar and realised that there is a scope for a political alternative".

The ex-officer said that he wanted to create a clean system above the vote bank politics. "Whoever be the candidate, I will be the face of the party in all the 243 assembly segments in the election," he said.

Talking to reporters, Mr Lande said "I did my best to serve the people while in IPS, when I was bound by the All India Service Conduct Rules. I realised my limitations when, despite the best of intentions, I could not help the public in matters that fell beyond the police's ambit".

He urged the potential joiners of ‘Hind Sena’ to follow the principles of humanity, justice and service. "Our party will be a platform for the people with sensitive thinking," he said.

His tenure as the SP of Patna (Central Region) was quite popular. He arrested many criminals and took action against offenders. Lande was popular as he took strict action against eve-teasers. Shivdeep Lande has been given many names such as 'Dabbang', 'Singham' and 'The Supercop' by the people.

In a popular incident in January 2015, Shivdeep came into the news for catching Inspector Sarvchand, who was demanding a bribe. Inspector Sarvchand was accused of demanding money from two businessman brothers of Patna to close an old case.
