The women’s wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and the Girls Islamic Organisation (GIO) in Bihar are actively working towards promoting ethical education and women empowerment across communities. Firm in their belief that true education must be rooted in moral values, the organisations stress the need to move beyond basic literacy to foster a healthy and balanced society.

According to the groups, the growing trend of unchecked freedom is contributing to moral decline, and their efforts aim to counter this by instilling values and social responsibility. Since 1948, these women-led groups have been imparting life skills and moral guidance to people of all faiths and backgrounds.

Led by educated and dynamic women such as Dr Jebaish Firdous, Shazia Ahsan, Dr. Nikhat Parveen, Khadija Khatoon, Ayesha Tasneem, and Shahmina Rehman, they operate in multiple districts of Bihar. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the organisations provided crucial support, including medical aid, food distribution, financial help, and even blood donations.

Their current four-year strategic plan focuses on educating women about their rights and responsibilities, self-defense, domestic violence, and personal development. They also emphasise promoting communal harmony. Events are regularly held in schools, colleges, and coaching centers to raise awareness on significant days and issues.

The organisations also extend financial assistance through Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s Baitulmal, particularly targeting women in need. Expressing concern over the moral impact of internet misuse, especially among young girls, they advocate strongly for ethical education as a foundation for personal and societal growth.
