The Bihar government has approved an upgrade of an alternative route from Muzaffarpur to Patna, providing an additional option for seamless travel between two key cities of Bihar. As part of the approved project, the alternative path from Hajipur to Patna via Madipur-Sakarui Path will be renovated.
The administration approval has been granted by the government. The route that sees waterlogging during the rains will see an overhaul with the construction of a 1.9 km drain.
On Monday, Finance Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary allocated an amount of Rs 16.40 crore to be spent on the construction work.
Talking about the approved project, he said that under the action plan of the year 2025-26, a target has been set to complete the work in two years. Now the work will start soon after completing the tender process.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that the NDA government under CM Nitish Kumar has been actively providing better roads to the public. He said that before starting the work, the relevant technical approval and tender process will be completed. If the road is under the jurisdiction of another department, then new construction work will commence only after its transfer and completion of the DLP of the earlier works.
According to Choudhary, the route will not only facilitate local transport but will also increase employment opportunities. "Since 2005, the NDA government of Bihar has been continuously working in this direction to provide better roads to the people," he said.
The approved road passes from the front of the residence of Panchayati Raj Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta. Its condition had deteriorated for the last five years. Due to the problem of waterlogging throughout the year, movement of people had become difficult. With the construction of this road, there will be an alternative route to go to Hajipur-Patna. This will reduce the traffic load in Ramdayalu.
