Awareness about the new contraceptive method, the implant, is being promoted among women in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district. During a training programme held on Wednesday at Sadar Hospital, women were informed about the benefits and convenience of this method, and 10 women were fitted with the implant during the event.
SKMCH Principal Dr Abha Rani Sinha highlighted that while pills and other contraceptive measures are already common, the implant is emerging as a better and more convenient temporary method.

Dr Pratibha, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at SKMCH, said that demand for the implant among eligible couples has risen significantly. She announced that the implant service will now be available daily at both Sadar Hospital and SKMCH.
During the training, 12 doctors were trained in the procedure. The trained doctors praised the method, calling it one of the safest and most effective temporary contraceptive options. They will now provide the implant facility to beneficiaries across the district, with technical support from the government’s partner organisation, PSI India.
The programme was jointly inaugurated by Dr Abha Rani Sinha, Dr Pratibha, PSI India’s State Programme Officer Merajuddin Ansar, District Representative Mohammad Manzoor Rahman Khan, Counsellor Anu, and other guests.
