The celebrations will begin on August 29 with a tribute to Bharat Ratna Major Dhyan Chand at 6:30 AM at Khel Bhawan, followed by a Sports Day pledge. A 5-km run and a college-level speech and debate competition on the theme of sports will take place later in the morning. From 2:00 PM, the opening ceremony and match of the Hero Asian Men’s Hockey Championship 2025 will be broadcast live at Khel Bhawan-cum-Vyayamshala, Rajendranagar.
On August 30, events such as a 50-metre run, tug of war, pitto, yoga competitions, kabaddi, and basketball will be held at the Patliputra Sports Complex under the theme ‘Day of Fitness’. Special categories have been planned for senior citizens, including yoga, chess, musical chairs, brisk walk, and debate competitions. A 1-km walk and a 300-metre brisk walk will also be organised.
The final day, August 31, will feature a ‘Sunday on Cycle’ event, beginning at 6:00 AM from Khel Bhawan and passing through major city routes before returning to the venue. Throughout the festival, live screenings of the Hero Cup Asian Men’s Hockey Championship in Rajgir (Aug 29–Sept 7) will be shown on LED screens at Khel Bhawan, along with a selfie point for visitors.
District Sports Officer Om Prakash said the initiative aims to create greater awareness about sports and physical fitness among youth and the public. He urged students, coaches, players, and sports enthusiasts to participate actively in the programmes.
