Out of 166, 20 buses are pink buses only for women which will run in Patna and other few districts to give female passengers a safer and more comfortable travel. The other 144 buses will be used on inter-regional routes and will carry both men and women across the state.

The fleet includes a mix of AC and non-AC buses, aimed at providing better comfort, reasonable fares, and dependable service. Before the launch, the Chief Minister checked the buses in person to look over their safety and comfort features.

"This initiative is part of the state government's commitment to making public transport more accessible and inclusive, particularly across rural, urban, and semi-urban areas," said a senior official from the transport department.

The new buses are set to improve travel between districts, ease crowding for regular commuters, and offer better services overall. Bringing in women-only buses also shows the state’s effort to support safer travel for women and promote gender-focused development.

The Bihar government is looking to grow its public transport system in the near future, with an emphasis on safety, on-time service, and the use of digital tools to improve operations.

At the same time, the Nitish Kumar-led government is focusing on improving road infrastructure. The Rural Works Department plans to spend Rs 25,000 crore on road repairs in 2025. The Chief Minister highlighted the need for regular monitoring, quick response to complaints, and proper upkeep to maintain road quality.
