Ananya Panday she commented on the beauty standards that actors set in the film industry and are expected to follow. She shared that it feels like a 'no-win-win' situation now while speaking to Lilly Singh on her show 'Shame Less With Lilly Singh.'

Ananya Panday spoke up about being made fun of for her appearance. The 25-year-old talked about body-shaming and how, ever since entering the industry, she has faced the same criticism. She also talked about the rumors that she was receiving surgery to improve her buttocks.

Ananya Panday said, "I feel like you can never win. I was 18 or 19 when I started out, and I was really skinny. Everyone used to kind of make fun about that. They were like, 'Oh, you have chicken legs. You look like a matchstick. You are like a flat-screen TV. You don’t have tits. You don’t have an ass.' So that was what it was first."

Ananya Panday, who made her Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's Student of the Year 2 also spoke about selective criticism. Talking about gender based discrimination, she stated, "It’s constantly like... anything you do. No matter what shape you are, no matter what size you are. People will constantly have something to say and criticise especially with women. I don’t feel like they do that to men at all. The hate that comes towards women is a lot more."

Ananya Panday acknowledged that she and other actors like her are contributing to the issue even as she bemoaned the selective criticism.

Ananya Panday has earned renewed fame by choosing to work in movies like Kho Gaye Hum Kahaan and Call Me Bae. Lately, the actor has started making thoughtful decisions in terms of movie choices. She was seen alongside Akshay Kumar in patriotic drama, Kesari: Chapter 2 in a completely de-glam role as a lawyer.
