Gopal Khemka Murder Case: In a major development in Patna businessman Gopal Khemka murder case, the Bihar police killed an accused identified as Vikas, alias Raja in the Malsalami area of Patna On Tuesday. According to News18, Vikas was involved in the manufacturing and selling of illegal weapons. The development comes hours after Patna Police succeeded in arresting the main accused According to the media reports, the arrested person, believed to be the shooter, has been identified as Umesh.
"Wanted criminal Vikas aka Raja was killed in a police encounter near Damaiya ghat around 2.45 am. One pistol, one bullet and a cartridge recovered from the site. The body has been sent to Nalanda Medical College, Patna, for post-mortem," Bihar Police said.

Khemkawas shot dead by an unidentified armed assailant outside his house in Gandhi Maidan locality at 11.40 pm on Friday as he was about to alight from his car. His mortal remains were consigned to flames at Gulbi Ghat in Patna on Sunday.
BJP, Nitish Kumar Made Bihar Crime Capital Of India: Rahul
Khemka's murder in the posh area of capital city, Patna, created a huge political outrage in the election-bound state. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said the incident has once again proven that the BJP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar have together made Bihar the "crime capital of India". Gandhi also asserted that in the upcoming assembly polls, the vote will not be just to change the government, but to save the state.

In a post in Hindi on X, Gandhi said the shooting of businessman Gopal Khemka in Patna has once again proven that the BJP and Nitish Kumar have together made Bihar the "crime capital of India". "Today, Bihar is living under the shadow of loot, gunshots and murder. Crime has become the new normal here - and the government has completely failed," the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said.
Bihar Govt Assures Businessmen Of Security
Khemka's murder created panic among the top businessmen in the state. With several businessmen flagging security concerns in the aftermath of the murder of industrialist Khemka, the Bihar government came out with an assurance that all such issues will be looked into and addressed.
Chief Secretary (CS) Amrit Lal Meena, whom a delegation of Bihar Industries Association (BIA) had met a day earlier, said security will be given to the business community as per norms. A delegation met me. I have assured them of appropriate security as per norms. Some of them have also asked for arms licences, which in any case is given to businessmen, Meena said.
A large number of businessmen and industrialists attended Khemka's cremation. Talking to PTI, BIA President KPS Keshri said, the incident is a matter of serious concern. This has certainly put a question mark on the law and order situation in the state.
A BIA delegation led by me met the CS and Bihar DGP on Saturday and discussed the security concerns of businessmen and industrialists at length. The CS and DGP have assured us that our concerns will be looked into and it will be addressed on priority basis. Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI) Vice-President Ashish Shankar alleged that though Khemka was shot dead near Gandhi Maidan police station, it took several hours for the police to reach the spot.
