A one-day state-level workshop on the ‘Panchayat Advancement Index 2.0’ was organised by the Panchayati Raj Department on Monday at a private hotel in Patna, to promote the holistic development of gram panchayats across Bihar.
Inaugurating the workshop, Panchayati Raj Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta emphasised that the empowerment of gram panchayats is essential for the rapid development of both the state and the nation. On the occasion, he also unveiled the 2025–26 training calendar prepared by the Bihar State Panchayat Resource Institute.

The workshop witnessed the participation of Deputy Development Commissioners, District Panchayati Raj Officers, Panchayat representatives, programmers, and nodal officers from all districts.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Gupta stated that the Panchayat Advancement Index 2.0 would foster healthy competition among gram panchayats and facilitate mutual learning. He added that the revised index, now more scientific and effective, would assess panchayat performance across nine key parameters and support better policy decisions.
Secretary of the Panchayati Raj Department Manoj Kumar underlined the importance of the index in policy-making, while Director Prashant Kumar CH elaborated on its technical framework. Special Secretary Preeti Tongaria and other departmental officials were also present. The workshop included group activities to provide hands-on training to the participants.
