On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) national president and former minister Tej Pratap Yadav hosted a traditional curd-and-chuda feast, where he received blessings from his father and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Lalu Prasad was the first to arrive at the event, marking what is being seen as an important moment of political and family reconciliation.
Several prominent leaders attended the feast, including Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Minister Ashok Choudhary, LJP (Ram Vilas) MP Shambhavi, RLJP chief Pashupati Paras, senior leaders Prabhunath Yadav and Sadhu Yadav, and JDU MLA Chetan Anand. Party leaders and supporters also participated in cultural programmes and traditional festivities at Tej Pratap’s residence.
During the event, Tej Pratap was seen wearing an orange kurta and waiting for his younger brother, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, who did not attend the feast.
While blessing his son, Lalu Prasad Yadav told the media that he was not angry with Tej Pratap and that his blessings would always remain with him. He said that differences within families are natural and do not imply estrangement, adding that Tej Pratap would continue to remain with the family.
After the meal, Tej Pratap made several political announcements. He urged Tejashwi Yadav to merge the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) with the Janshakti Janata Dal, claiming that JJD was Lalu Prasad Yadav’s “real party.” He also announced that JJD would contest the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, as well as the MLC elections in Bihar and municipal elections in Delhi.

Tej Pratap further said he would soon begin a statewide tour of Bihar, with the schedule to be announced later. He added that he would wait until 9 pm for Tejashwi Yadav to arrive.
