Patna Metro Update: Patna Metro on Sunday successfully conducted trial run on the elevated track between Patna Depot and Bhoothnath Metro Stations. While providing details, the authority stated that the train covered a distance of 4.5 kilometers, adding that the train passed through three stations- ISBT (Patliputra Bus Terminal), Zero Mile, and Bhootnath at slow speeds to ensure safety. It further stated that the operation of metro trains in Patna will provide convenience to the residents of multiple regions by reducing the traffic congestion and cutting the travel time. Earlier last week, the authority stated that the metro services is likely to commence in the later parts of September.
The Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRCL) officials, while providing details about the trial stated that the aim to conduct the trial was to assess train's performance on tracks. The authority also verified the overhead electrification system that power the metro train operations. The PMRCL also tested several aspects of the tracks, including alignment, stability, and overall safety. The authority further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Metro this month after successful trial runs.

The PMRCL emphasised that the metro trains will show glimpses of Bihar's cultural heritage, like Golghar, Mahavir Temple, Mahabodhi Temple, Buddha Stupa, and Nalanda ruins. It further stated that the roof of the coaches is being decorated with Madhubani paintings and other traditional arts. Earlier last month, the PMRCL stated that the first phase of Patna Metro will operate between the depot and Malahi Pakadi.
It further stated that almost 4.5 kilometers of the route is ready for the operation from the depot to Bhootnath. The authority also stated that the trains will pass through key stations, including ISBT, Zero Mile, and Bhootnath. However, due to incomplete work near Khemnichak station, the train will not be able to reach Malahi Pakadi in the first few months.
