Patna Metro Update: The authorities on Thursday stated that the much-awaited Patna metro is expected to begin operation by August this year. They stated that the progress of the construction work is continuously being monitored by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the top officials. The Bihar Chief Minister has directed the authority to complete the construction work within the given deadline. Patna Metro is likely to provide relief to the residents of the capital city of Bihar by cutting travel time and reducing traffic congestion.
Apart from the Patna metro, the government is also planning to launch metros in other key cities of the state. The authority stated that the state government is considering building a metro in four districts. While providing details, it stated that the metro is expected to be launched in Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, and Darbhanga.
The reports suggest that the plan has been approved and the DPR is also being prepared to carry out the future works. The authority stated that the project is likely to commence in 2029, adding that while 20 per cent of the investment will be done by state and central government, the remaining 60 per cent investment will be made by banks like the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank as loans.
While providing details, the authority stated that the longest route is being planned to build in Gaya. It stated that there will be a total of 28 stations on this route. They further stated that there will be a route of about 21.5 km in Muzaffarpur with a total of 20 metro stations.
The first corridor of 13.85 km length will be built between Harpur Bakhri and Ramdayalu. On the other hand, the second corridor will be 7.40 km and will be built from Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital to Muzaffarpur Junction with a total of 7 stations.
