Patna Police and the district administration have completed all security and traffic arrangements for the New Year. Biker gangs in the city will be under strict police surveillance, and firm action will be taken against those who violate traffic rules.
Officials have been directed to promptly refute rumours, keep the social media monitoring cell active, and ensure intensive patrolling through special mobile teams. Station House Officers and Sub-divisional Police Officers have been instructed to remain continuously mobile and take effective action to control biker gangs. All officials are to remain alert, ready, and committed to these duties.
SSP Kartikey K Sharma and District Magistrate Dr Tyagarajan SM stated that for the maintenance of law and order, the Patna district administration has deployed more than 125 magistrates and police officials at 104 key locations at the district level. This deployment is under the leadership of senior magistrates and follows established standards for crowd control in public places.
Quick Response Teams (QRT) have also been deployed at key locations. Along with magistrates and police officials, an adequate number of armed forces, female personnel, and lathi-wielding personnel have also been deputed. The fire brigade and other necessary units have also been deployed.
At the district control room, 24 magistrates have been kept in reserve across three shifts. All Sub-divisional Officers and Sub-divisional Police Officers have been directed to deploy additional magistrates and forces within their respective areas as needed.
As per the officials, the administration will remain vigilant at major crowded locations, including Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan, Eco Park, Gandhi Maidan, Kumhrar, Patna Junction Hanuman Mandir, the ISKCON temple, Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir on Nehru Path, and Patan Devi Mandir. To prevent inconvenience to pedestrians and visitors, instructions have been issued to keep the footpaths around picnic spots and other crowded areas clear and free from encroachment.
A large number of people are expected to travel to the Diara (riverine floodplain) region near Hajipur via the Mahatma Gandhi Setu for picnics. Therefore, instructions have been issued to deploy adequate personnel on the Mahatma Gandhi Setu to ensure smooth and orderly traffic flow.
Major hotels and clubs in Patna city experience large crowds on New Year's. In light of this, intensive patrolling will be conducted by magistrates and police officials, who have been instructed accordingly.
For New Year's, many people may cross the Ganga by private boat to picnic in the Diara region. To prevent accidents, a ban has been imposed on boat operations on the Ganga River. A prohibitory order has been issued by the Sub-divisional Officer under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to ban these operations. The operation of any private boat in the rivers without permission is prohibited from 6:00 AM on December 31 to 6:00 PM on January 1.
Instructions have been issued to take strict legal action against anyone violating this order. All Station House Officers will ensure effective compliance with this order. Intensive river patrols will be conducted by the NDRF and SDRF. Four magistrates and police officials have been deputed to enforce the ban on boat operations.
The Additional Collector for Disaster Management has been directed to keep an adequate number of SDRF personnel and divers on standby to deal with any contingency. As a precautionary measure to handle any emergency, the Civil Surgeon has deployed two ambulances at the district control room.
Additionally, one ambulance each, equipped with essential medicines and a medical team, has been stationed at major crowded locations, including Eco Park, Gates 1 and 2 of Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan, near the Kumhrar excavation site, Hanuman Mandir (near Patna Junction), the ISKCON temple, Budh Marg, and the Rotary Golambar control room (Digha).
A Quick Response Team (QRT) has been deployed at each of the following major locations: Eco Park, the Secretariat, Patna Junction, Hanuman Mandir, Kumhrar Park, Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan, the Children's Park at Gandhi Maidan, the ISKCON temple, and Budh Marg.
To control biker gangs, all Station House Officers and Sub-divisional Police Officers will remain continuously on patrol. On New Year's, biker gangs may attempt to create disorder on motorcycles or other vehicles along Atal Path and JP Ganga Path, as well as between Collectorate Ghat and Raja Ghat, and between Bhadra Ghat and Mittan Ghat.
The DM and SSP said that instructions have been issued to barricade these routes as required to control vehicle entry from December 31 until late into the night of January 1. Foot patrols will be conducted along the JP Ganga Path and the riverfront, with an adequate number of security forces and police officials deployed.
A special mobile team will carry out intensive patrols at night. Station House Officers will conduct intensive vehicle checks at checkpoints set up late into the night.
