Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Railway Board, Satish Kumar, carried out a window-trailing inspection on Thursday of the Rajendra Nagar Terminal–Rajendrapul–Karpoorigram–Bapudham Motihari railway section to assess rail safety and infrastructure preparedness during the monsoon.
Accompanied by General Manager Chhatrasal Singh and other senior officials, Kumar closely reviewed critical aspects such as signal visibility, track maintenance, ballasting, overhead traction, alignment, and fittings. The inspection began at the new terminal under construction at Harding Park, near Patna Junction.
Officials briefed the Chairman on how the upcoming terminal is expected to decongest Patna Junction by improving train turnaround and scheduling. Designed with underground connectivity, the terminal will link directly to the metro rail, roads, and a multi-modal hub, enhancing passenger movement and reducing station crowding. Kumar assessed the construction progress and directed authorities to ensure timely completion.
At Rajendranagar Terminal, he inspected the circulating area, platforms, and overall passenger amenities, emphasising the need for quality and convenience. He later visited Rajendrapul station, where he examined the model of the new rail bridge being built parallel to the Ganga River and reviewed the construction timeline and quality parameters.
In the final leg of the inspection, the Chairman reached Karpoorigram station and conducted a detailed review of the foot overbridge, goods shed, platforms, circulating area, and other ongoing development works.
Divisional Railway Managers Jayant Kumar Chaudhary (Danapur), Vivek Bhushan Sood (Sonpur), and Vinay Srivastava (Samastipur) were present during the inspection in their respective jurisdictions.
The inspection marks a crucial initiative toward enhancing operational efficiency and improving passenger amenities across the East Central Railway network.
