Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has intensified its campaign to control the rising number of stray dogs and ensure public safety, amid frequent incidents of dog bites in neighbourhoods across the city. Many women and children are reportedly living in fear due to stray dogs roaming freely on roads and in residential areas.

In a move to provide swift assistance, PMC has activated a helpline, 0621-2200634, and a toll-free number 155304, where residents can immediately report the presence of stray dogs in their localities.

Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena has directed officials to implement a structured action plan involving anti-rabies vaccination, sterilisation and deworming of stray dogs in all 75 wards. A specialised agency has been appointed to carry out the campaign, supported by trained veterinarians, modern equipment and a dedicated vehicle.

Under the initiative, the agency aims to catch at least 40 dogs daily. The captured dogs will transported to PMC’s veterinary hospital, where they undergo necessary medical procedures including sterilisation, vaccination and treatment. The facility also provides special care for sick dogs.
