Patna Airport announced an updated schedule for the flight services operating from the Jay Prakash Narayan Airport. The updated schedule, effective from April 2 to October 26, introduces a new flight to Ayodhya and increases the frequency of flights to high-demand cities such as Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata. However, the airport also announced the cancellation of direct flights to Goa, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Amritsar, Bhopal, and Jaipur.
This change will affect air travellers planning to visit these destinations during the summer holidays, as they will now be required to book one-stop flights. The discontinuation of direct flights, which were initiated in March 2022 for Jaipur and Varanasi and in April 2023 for Goa, is attributed to low passenger turnout.
The aviation companies have reported insufficient traveller numbers to sustain the routes. Consequently, the new schedule reflects these operational adjustments.
The decision to halt these direct services comes as a disappointment to many, especially in light of the previously launched Indigo flight number 6E654 connecting Jaipur and Varanasi to Patna. Passengers have expressed dissatisfaction with the revised schedule, citing increased travel time and higher fares associated with one-stop flights.
