Patna administration will initiate an anti-encroachment drive in the city, starting Monday until June 21. The decision to carry out the anti-encroachment drive in Patna was instructed by Division Commissioner Kumar Ravi. District Magistrate Shirshat Kapil Ashok and Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Mishra have mobilised four specialised teams to clear main passages such as Nehru Path, Atal Path and Bypass Road of illegal occupations and streamline traffic flow.
The campaign will target five key zones within the Patna Municipal Corporation, Nutan Rajdhani, Pataliputra, Bankipur, Kankarbagh and Azimabad, as well as the Danapur Municipal Council. A coordinated effort involving the administration, municipal corporation and traffic police will ensure the removal of obstructions and impose fines on violations.
To reinforce the operation, traffic police will concurrently conduct a vehicle inspection drive. Notices under Section 133 of the CrPC will be issued against public nuisances based on police reports as the Divisional Commissioner underscored the necessity of maintaining clear main roads for the public good, declaring zero tolerance for any interference.
Each enforcement team comprises magistrates, police officers and various forces, supported by executive officers, city managers and sanitation personnel from municipal bodies. The sub-divisional officer will lead public announcements and oversee the documentation of the entire eviction process.
The senior superintendent of police is tasked with recording the details of the encroachment removal in the station records. Confiscation of goods used in encroachment and subsequent fines will be enforced if someone is found violating the rules.
