Patna Traffic Police have banned the entry of goods and passengers vehicles in the city till October 24 in order to ensure smooth traffic movement on the occasion of Durga Puja and Dussehra festivities. On October 23, over 700 NCC and 200 scouts and guides cadets will also assist in traffic management. 

The team has been formed under the leadership of Traffic DSP Anil Kumar and will be deployed in crowded areas under the supervision of police officials. The young cadets have been trained to manage the smooth movement of vehicles and compliance with traffic rules. 

Traffic SP Puran Kumar Jha said that under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Indian Head Injury Foundation (IHJF) in collaboration with ICICI Lombard provided 26 barricades, 700 raincoats and 400 baton lines to the traffic police. Policemen engaged in traffic management will use it to manage the heavy traffic during the festive season.

Ashok Rajpath will be closed for goods and passenger vehicles from Danapur. Heavy vehicles will also be banned from Danapur to Ashok Rajpath. Several other routes will be restricted for traffic management due to the crowd of devotees. The traffic police have issued a notification for alternative routes for the convenience of the commuters.

According to the notification, vehicles going from Danapur towards Bihta will go from Neura via Bihta-Ara road. From Danapur Cantt, vehicles will be able to go ahead of Khagaul-Danapur station via Saguna turn.

Vehicles will not ply on both the flanks from Dak Bungalow to Kotwali T-point. Vehicles going to Dak Bungalow from Bhattacharya Square, Patna Junction and Swaminand T-point will also be prohibited. Traffic will remain one-way from Gandhi Chowk to Gaighat.

The traffic management officials will take a decision at their discretion and start operations on the restricted routes once the crowd is over.
