The Finance Department of the Bihar Government has decided to pay the salaries of all the government officials and employees for this month on October 18, ahead of the Durga Puja festival. The decision has been taken to help the government servants meet their necessary expenses during the festive season.
According to the order, non-gazetted and gazetted employees of the state government, who withdraw their salary through the Withdrawal Establishment Bill, are usually paid their salary on the last working day of the respective month (except the salary for the month of March). However, on special occasions, the government has been making prepayments under the rules of the Treasury Code-2011.
The Finance Department has instructed the concerned departments to take further action to ensure payment of salaries of officials and employees for the month of October 2023 from Wednesday in compliance with the said decision.
This year, Navratri started on October 15 and Dussehra is on October 24. During these ten days of festivities, there is an atmosphere of celebration and shopping among the people. In such a situation, government employees are getting their salaries in advance, so that they do not face any problem managing their expenses.
