Bihar Budget 2026: The Bihar government on Tuesday announced that along with the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, the farmers will get an additional amount of Rs 3,000 per annum. While presenting the budget for the upcoming financial year, Bihar Finance Minister Bijendra Yadav announced that the additional amount will be given under the 'Jannayak Karpoori Thakur Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana'. The finance minister stated that the additional amount will benefit the farmers significantly.
After implementation of the scheme, the eligible farmers of Bihar will get Rs 9,000 annually under the central and state government schemes. The finance minister asserted that this is a crucial step towards increasing farmers' income and strengthening the agricultural sector. He further stated that several other schemes will be announced in the upcoming months to boost the financial condition of the farmers.
While the farmers of the other states will continue to receive Rs 6,000 per annum, the farmers of Bihar will now get Rs 9,000 annually. Earlier in January, several farmer groups across the country demanded the centre to increase the amount under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme.
The finance minister stated that the budget has been prepared to benefit all the sections of the society. "The budget has been prepared with a focus on imaan, gyaan, vigyaan, armaan aur samman (faith, knowledge, science, and respect)," Yadav asserted.
He further stated that the additional amount will be transferred into the accounts of 1.56 crore women to assist them in setting up their own business. "A sum of Rs 10,000 each was transferred into the accounts of 1.56 crore women. Soon, an additional Rs 2 lakh will be given to those who may have utilised the money to set up businesses," Yadav asserted.
