Ahead of Republic Day 2026 celebrations, the Patna Traffic police have changed the routes for several areas. During the main state Republic Day ceremony at Gandhi Maidan on January 26, general and commercial vehicles will not be permitted to operate on Fraser Road and several routes around Gandhi Maidan from 7 am until the conclusion of the programme.
Following a joint meeting of the DM and SSP, the SP Traffic has changed the routes for several other roads. However, this rule will not apply to emergency services such as ambulances and fire engines.
There are separate entrance gates and galleries for women and students. Parking for two-wheelers and four-wheelers has been arranged on the roadside in front of Udyog Bhawan.
The route from Dakbungalow Chowk to JP Golambar (Maurya Hotel turning) will be reserved exclusively for the convoys of the Governor, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and special guests. The movement of general vehicles from Dakbungalow Chowk to Gandhi Maidan (Children's Park) will be completely prohibited.
Entry into SP Verma Road from New Dakbungalow Road will be prohibited. All eastbound roads from Kotwali T-junction to Police Line (on Buddha Marg) will be closed. General and commercial vehicles can travel from Voltas Mor to Police Line T-junction via Vidyapati Marg.
Traffic from Chhajjubagh (SDO residence) towards JP Golambar, and from Chhajjubagh, turning onto Buddha Marg towards the SDO residence, will be closed. From JP Ganga Path (in front of the Commissioner's office), only pass-holding vehicles will be able to proceed towards AN Sinha Institute and Gandhi Maidan.
Private vehicles coming from Fraser Road will be diverted east from Dakbungalow Chowk towards Bhattacharya Chowk-Peermuhani-Nala Road. If any vehicle mistakenly enters Exhibition Road (Braj Kishore Path), it will be sent back towards Bhattacharya Chowk from near Big Bazaar.
On January 26, the city bus service from Engineering College to Gandhi Maidan Chowk will go up to Patna Junction via Machuatoli, Dariyapur T-junction, Nala Road, and Peermuhani, and will return via the same route. Meanwhile, auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws will travel from Patna Junction, New Dakbungalow Road, Bhattacharya Chowk, Exhibition Road (up to Big Bazaar), and return to Patna Junction via Bhattacharya Mor, CDA Building, and Goria Toli.
Commercial vehicles coming from Patna City will go up to Musallahpur Haat, Bari Path, and Khajanchi Road (South), then return from there.
