The Bihar government is gearing up to launch a major recruitment drive to fill nearly 50,000 vacant posts across 10 key departments. Acting on instructions from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena held a high-level meeting with nodal officers on Monday to expedite the recruitment process.

During the meeting, presentations were made by each department detailing the number and categories of vacancies. A total of 49,591 posts were reported vacant. Departments involved include Rural Development, Agriculture, Water Resources, Food and Consumer Protection, Minor Water Resources, Animal and Fisheries Resources, Cooperative, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and the Sugarcane Industry.

The Chief Secretary emphasised that filling these vacancies is a state priority and instructed departments to begin the recruitment process promptly. Notably, a proposal for filling 14,968 of these posts has already been submitted to the concerned commission.

These recruitments are being conducted under the state’s flagship “Saat Nischay-2” scheme, which aims to strengthen governance and service delivery at the grassroots level.

Department-wise Vacancies:

-Panchayati Raj Department – 16,496

-Rural Development Department – 14,667

-Agriculture Department – 7,543

-Water Resources Department – 6,931

-Minor Water Resources Department – 6,645

-Food and Consumer Protection Department – 4,988

-Animal and Fisheries Resources Department – 3,606

-Cooperative Department – 1,477

-Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department – 1,466

-Sugarcane Industry Department – 740
