The Skill Development Program is being implemented in residential schools for Other Backward Class (OBC) girls in Bihar during the current academic session. This will benefit the girl students with skill development. This instruction was given in a review meeting chaired by Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class Welfare Department Secretary Manoj Kumar on Monday.
In the meeting, the progress of various schemes run by the department and pending works was reviewed. Secretary Manoj Kumar directed the officials of all the districts in the meeting to ensure inspection of newly constructed schools.
The new academic session should be conducted smoothly in the newly constructed buildings. So far, eight newly constructed schools have been shifted. The work of setting up computer labs, science labs, and libraries in these schools and making funds available for the services provided by Jeevika should be ensured immediately.
The secretary also directed to ensure the current status of the newly constructed hostels and the arrangement of mess operations in them. The secretary directed that while inspecting the status of school construction works, they should also give necessary suggestions along with the inspection report. He also ordered to ensure the availability of essential facilities like electricity and water in the newly constructed school buildings and Jannayak Karpoori Thakur hostels.
It was informed in the meeting that skill development centers are being set up by Bihar Skill Development Mission with the help of Beltron in five other Backward Class Girls Residential Higher Secondary Schools. Kumar said that the status of enrollment in schools and the availability of teachers should be ensured.
After April 22, vacant seats for enrollment should be filled from the waiting list. He also said that in the districts where departmental buildings have been constructed, full enrollment should be ensured. He also directed to pay the Civil Services Incentive amount. He suggested that physical verification should be done before paying the amount to avoid fraud.
