Amid Lalu Yadav's family feud taking centre stage in the political landscape in Bihar, it has come to light that the current Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, had reportedly refused the post of LoP as he took the responsibility of Rashtriya Janata Dal's (RJD) disappointing performance in the Bihar election 2025.

According to a report by NDTV, Tejashwi Yadav agreed to take the position only after his father and RJD founder, Lalu Yadav, insisted.

Tejashwi Yadav Wanted To Work As MLA Only

During a review meeting, the 36-year-old expressed his wish to work as an MLA and refused to take the LoP post, the report added, quoting a source.

Tejashwi Yadav said that he was taking responsibility for the RJD's debacle in the election. The main opposition in Bihar, which was the single-largest party in the 2020 election, was able to secure only 25 seats, 50 fewer than it got in the last Bihar assembly election in 2020.

The source further revealed that his proposal was not accepted in the meeting, and Lalu Yadav said that he must continue to lead the party in the Assembly.

"I am handling the party's affairs on his (Lalu Yadav) orders. I tried very hard in this election but was unsuccessful," Tejashwi was quoted as saying. Party members present in the meeting backed Tejashwi and assured support.
