A disturbing incident has emerged from the Modinagar police station area, where a medical store owner allegedly raped a 23-year-old woman after administering a sedative pill under the guise of medicine. The police have registered a case, and a manhunt is underway for the accused, who is currently absconding.
Sequence Of Events
The victim, a resident of a colony on the Baghpat Bypass in Meerut, had traveled to Modinagar on Monday to search for a rental house. While near the bus stand, she began experiencing severe stomach pain and visited a medical store on Tibra Road to purchase medication.
The Lure: During a conversation at the store, the woman mentioned she was looking for a house to rent. The accused, identified as Lakshmikant Gupta (owner of Lakshmi Medical Store), claimed he had a vacant house available for rent.
The Sedation: It is alleged that instead of giving her medicine for stomach pain, the accused gave the woman a sedative pill.
The Assault: Under the pretext of showing her the rental property, he took the woman—who was in a drugged state—to his second house. There, he allegedly raped her while she was unconscious.
Assault And Attempted Bribery
When the victim regained consciousness and resisted, the accused reportedly turned violent. He verbally abused her and severely beat her. Furthermore, he attempted to silence the woman by offering her money to suppress the incident.

Official Statement: ACP Modinagar Amit Saxena confirmed that a case has been registered against Lakshmikant Gupta under relevant sections, including rape.
The victim has undergone a medical examination. ACP Saxena stated, "A team is engaged in searching for him. He will be arrested and sent to jail soon."
