Moni Chaudhary, a resident of Katira Mohalla in Arrah, Bhojpur district, has brought glory to Bihar at an international level in the field of mountaineering. On January 1, 2026, at 7:40 am, Moni successfully summited Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 metres/19,341 feet).
The highest point of Kilimanjaro is called Uhuru Peak. She achieved this feat after a challenging seven-day expedition. During this time, she had to face difficult geographical and climatic conditions such as dense rainforests, moorlands, alpine deserts, and extremely cold weather.

The expedition requires high physical capability, mental fortitude, and disciplined preparation, which Moni Chaudhary successfully demonstrated. Chaudhary is currently employed as a manager at Bihar Gramin Bank. She has previously completed several important mountaineering and trekking expeditions.
Chaudhary summited Mount Yonam in Himachal Pradesh on August 14, 2024. In April 2025, she completed the Annapurna Base Camp expedition in Nepal, and in June 2023, she completed a basic mountaineering course in Manali. She said that she has been fond of travelling and mountains since childhood.
Her first journey was to the Tungnath Shiva temple, which inspired her to move forward. Moni Chaudhary said that she used to go on mountaineering expeditions during her holidays at her own expense. This time, receiving leave from the bank provided her with some convenience, although the expenses incurred in the expeditions remain a challenge. She says that if the government provides support for such expeditions, she can achieve even higher goals.
