Understand DA calculation
The hike in dearness allowance for employees and pensioners is calculated considering the latest Consumer Price Index of Industrial Labor (CPI-IW) released every month by the Labor Bureau. Earlier in October 2023, DA was hiked by 4 percent to 46 percent. As the DA is expected to hike 4% hike, the total DA will reach to 50%.
1 crore people would be benefitted
The scheduled DA hike will benefit 48.67 lakh crore Central Government employees and 67.95 lakh current pensioners. Earlier, the Diwali bonus for Group C and non-gazetted Group B level officers including paramilitary forces was approved by the government.
DA of central government employees is based on the inflation rate of the country. If the inflation rate is high, there is a possibility of a further increase in DA.
