Government employees are getting their salary under the 7th Pay Commission. They all have been eagerly waiting for the 8th Pay Commission for years. Now, the Finance Secretary TV Somanathan has come up with a comment on the 8th pay commission.

He said that the central government has no plans to introduce the eighth pay commission before the national elections next year. That means around 54 lakh central government employees and pensioners will have to wait for their pay hike.

Earlier, there was some news that the Central Government is planning to bring the 8th Pay Commission before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. In the past, it has been seen that political parties used to set up pay commissions ahead of election year. Parties think that it may be an effective way to win over central government employees, armed forces personnel, and family pensioners. Earlier, the 7th Pay Commission was introduced by the UPA government in 2013.
