Bank Holiday On Holi 2025: March brings with it the vibrant festival of Holi, one of India’s biggest celebrations. Since Holi is widely observed across the country, banks in many states will remain closed on different dates because some states will observe the holiday on 14 while some may celebrate it a day earlier or later. Check the state-wise Bank Holiday list on Holi.

Bank Holidays on March 13 and 14

According to the RBI bank holiday calendar, banks will remain closed in certain states on March 13 and 14 due to Holika Dahan, Dhulandi (Holi of Colors), and the Attukal Pongala festival.

Bank Holiday On Holi: Thursday, March 13

On this day, banks will be closed in the following states: Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Kerala

Meanwhile, in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and other states, banks will operate as usual.

Holi Bank Holiday Date: Friday, March 14

Dhulandi (Holi of Colors) will be celebrated across India on the 14th of March. On this date, Banks will observe a holiday in most parts of the country, except states like Karnataka, Odisha, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Kerala and Nagaland.

Bank Holiday on March 15

Some states will continue the celebration of Holi on Saturday, March 15, leading to bank closures in Tripura, Odisha, Manipur, and Bihar.

However, banks in other parts of the country will remain open as it is the third Saturday, which is not a mandatory holiday.

Other Notable Bank Holidays in March 2025

Sunday, March 16 – Banks will remain closed nationwide.

Saturday, March 22 – Being the fourth Saturday, banks across the country will be closed.

Sunday, March 23 – Nationwide bank holiday.

Saturday, March 22 – Bihar Day: Banks in Bihar will remain closed.

Thursday, March 27 – Shab-e-Qadr: Banks in Jammu & Kashmir will be closed.

Friday, March 28 – Jumat-ul-Vida: Banks in Jammu & Kashmir will remain closed.

Sunday, March 30 – Nationwide bank holiday.

Monday, March 31 – Eid-ul-Fitr: Banks across India will be closed except in Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh.

Bank Holidays differ from state to state

It is crucial to remember that each state sets its bank holidays. On its official website, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) posts a list of holidays per state. It's best to check your state's holiday schedule ahead of time if you must visit a bank branch.

Online Banking Services to remain operational

Customers won't experience any significant interruptions even though banks will be closed on these occasions. Essential financial services like fund transfers, bill payments, and account management will always be available because of online banking, mobile banking, and ATMs.

To prevent any inconvenience, make sure you do any in-person banking obligations before the holidays.
