Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that, in addition to regular weekend closures, banks across India will observe several holidays in June 2025 due to regional and national festivities. These holidays, set under the Negotiable Instruments Act, may vary by state. Customers are advised to plan their banking activities accordingly.
While banks are usually closed on the second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays, May 31, 2025, being the fifth Saturday, will see normal banking operations. The first bank holiday in June 2025 falls on Sunday, June 1, which is a nationwide closure.
Festivals And Occasions For Bank Holidays In June 2025
In June, banks will remain closed on various occasions including Id-ul-Ad’ha (Bakrid), Bakri Id (Id-Uz-Zuha), Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti, Saga Dawa, Ratha Yatra/Kang (Rathajatra), and Remna Ni. These holidays may vary by state, so customers should check the specific holiday list for their region.
State Wise Bank Holidays In June 2025
June 6 (Friday): Id-ul-Ad’ha (Bakrid)
Banks will be closed in Kerala.
June 7 (Saturday): Bakri ID (Id-Uz-Zuha)
Banks will be closed in all states except Gujarat, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Kerala.
June 11 (Wednesday): Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti / Saga Dawa
Banks will be closed in Sikkim and Meghalaya.
June 27 (Friday): Ratha Yatra / Kang (Rathajatra)
Banks will be closed in Odisha and Manipur.
June 30 (Monday): Remna Ni (Peace Day)
Banks will be closed in Mizoram.
On days when bank branches are closed, customers can continue to access essential banking services through online platforms, mobile apps, and ATMs. Services such as fund transfers via NEFT/RTGS, chequebook and card requests, and setting up standing instructions remain fully operational through digital channels.
All scheduled and non-scheduled banks will observe public holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays, as per RBI guidelines. Banks will also remain closed on all Sundays, June 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, and on June 14 and June 28 (second and fourth Saturdays).
