Bank Holidays In December 2025: As per the RBI holiday calendar, banks will be closed in multiple states from December 24 to 31. While some of these will be public holidays, others will be regional holidays.

While banks across India will be closed on December 25, Thursday, some Northeastern states will have back-to-back bank holidays starting December 24. Customers will be able to access services via net banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATMs during this time period.

December 24

Banks in Aizawl, Kohima and Shillong will be closed on Christmas Eve.

December 25:

Banks will be closed across India on Christmas.

December 26

Banks will be closed in Aizawl, Kohima, and Shillong in view of Christmas Celebrations.

December 27

Only banks in Kohima will be closed.

December 30

Only banks in Shillong will be closed in view of Death Anniversary of U Kiang Nangbah

December 31

Aizawl and Imphal banks will be closed for New Year’s Eve/Imoinu Iratpa.

In another update, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed on December 25 for Christmas. There will be no trading happening on December 27, and December 28, which are the regular weekly holidays. Thus, the market will be closed for three consecutive days.

During these three-days, trading across all major segments of the stock market will remain closed. This includes equities, derivatives, currency markets, and the Multi-Commodity Exchange Rate (MCX), used for tracking gold and silver rates. In short, the holiday for the stock market means that there will be no trading on the commodity market as well.
