While the price of 19-kg cylinders has been revised, the cost of 14-kg commercial LPG cylinders remains unchanged.

Changes in the price of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinders are influenced by several key factors, both global and domestic, such as crude oil prices, exchange rates, and international LPG benchmark rates.

Earlier, on April 1, the price of commercial LPG cylinders was reduced by Rs 41. Oil companies regularly revise LPG prices based on global crude oil rates and other market factors.

In the latest update, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders used for household cooking remain unchanged, while only the rates for commercial LPG cylinders have been adjusted.

LPG Use In India

In India, approximately 90 percent of LPG is used for household cooking, while the remaining 10 percent is consumed in the commercial, industrial, and automotive sectors.

In March, the central government increased the price of domestic LPG cylinders by ₹50. This decision followed a rise in global crude oil prices triggered by tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Crude Oil

India’s pricing policy for domestically produced natural gas is linked to crude oil prices, with rates set at 10 percent of the average cost of the Indian crude basket. In May 2025, the average crude price fell to Dollar 64.5 per barrel,  the lowest level in over three years.

If crude oil prices remain stable around Dollar 65 per barrel, oil marketing companies are expected to see a 45 percent reduction in their LPG-related losses during the financial year 2026.
