Aadhar Card: If you have not yet updated the details on your Aadhar card, then you only have four days left to do it for free. Information such as address, name, or date of birth can be updated online and offline, if you update the given details online before the deadline you will not have to pay any charges, but you will have to pay a fee for updating the same via offline mode.
According to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), information on Aadhaar card can be updated free of cost till 14 September 2024. Post the deadline users have to pay a fee to update details on their Aadhaar Card.
How to update information online
- You have to visit UIDAI's official website 'www.uidai.gov.in'
- Click on the "My Aadhaar" option and choose "Update Your Aadhaar" from the menu.
- Next, enter to "Update Aadhaar Details (Online)" page and click on "Document Update".
- Enter your UID number and captcha code and click on "Send OTP". You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP, and click on the "Login" tab.
- Now, select the information you want to update (such as name, address, date of birth, etc.) and fill in the correct info.
- Next, you have to upload scanned copies of all the required documents
- Post uploading and click on "Submit" button.
- You will receive an Update Request Number (URN), which you can use to track the status of your update.

What Aadhaar details can not be updated online?
Biometric information such as iris scans, fingerprints, and facial photographs cannot be updated in online updates. Also, the facility to change date of birth and gender is provided only once.
How to update offline information
If you want to update your information offline, download the Aadhaar enrolment form from the UIDAI website. Fill it out and submit it along with the required documents to your nearest Aadhaar enrolment center or Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Your biometric information will be collected there, and you will receive an update request number (URN), which will help you track the status of your update.
Why is it necessary to update Aadhaar card information?
The Aadhaar card is a 12-digit unique identification number, which is based on biometric and demographic information. If you have not updated it even after 10 years of issuance of an Aadhaar card, then you are advised to submit your identity and address proof afresh. UIDAI has taken this step so that the information of the citizens can be kept safe and updated correctly.
