Gopichand Hinduja: After prolonged health issues, the Chairman of the Hinduja Group, Gopichand Hinduja, died in a London hospital at the age of 85. The Mumbai trader, who is referred to as 'GP' in the business circle, suffered serious health issues in recent weeks, as per family sources.
Indian-origin British lawmaker Tory peer Rami Ranger announced. While calling Gopichand Hinduja “one of the most gracious, humble, and loyal friends”, Ranger stated that his death marks the end of an era."

Gopichand Hinduja Secures Top Spot In UK's Rich List
Recently, the business tycoon secured the top spot in the United Kingdom's prestigious Rich List. The family's wealth has been estimated at around 35.3 billion pounds, as per the Sunday Times Rich List 2025.

Gopichand Hinduja Business Career
The Indian-British businessman joined the Hinduja Group in 1950 and is credited with the transformation of the business from an Indo-Middle East trading operation into a transnational conglomerate.
Gopichan Hinduja is a second-generation Hinduja and assumed the charge of Chairman after the death of his elder brother Srichand in May 2023. Gopichand remained co-chairman with his brother for several years before Srichand's death.
Gopichand Hinduja’s acquisitions of Ashok Leyland in 1987 and Gulf Oil in 1984 transformed the Hinduja Group from a trading house into an industrial giant. Under his leadership, the conglomerate grew to employ over 200,000 people across 48 countries, spanning automotive, banking, energy, and media. His strategic vision not only multiplied family wealth but also cemented the group’s global footprint.
Gopichand Hinduja Personal Life
Born on 29 January 1940, the son of Parmanand Hinduja, Gopichand Hinduja received his education at Jai Hind College in Mumbai. He leaves behind his wife, Sunita Hinduja and three children, including two sons and one daughter.
