Steps To Check TDS Status: Tax deducted at source (TDS) is a tax collection mechanism under the Income Tax Act, 1961, which ensures that the government receives some portion of the tax at the time of transaction. However, employees who are not on the tax slab are often skeptical as to whether the deduction has been made and how they can track it before filling it in for the return.
After a few days, the process of filing income tax returns will start and people whose TDS has been deducted will start trying to confirm the amount of deduction. Taxpayers often need to check their TDS status to ensure proper tax payment and avoid discrepancies while filing income tax returns (ITRs).
