The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) allows Aadhaar card holders to download a digital version of the Aadhaar card online. The digitally signed and password-protected electronic copy of the Aadhaar is equivalent to a physical copy of the Aadhaar and can be used whenever needed.
The e-Aadhaar offers individuals several benefits as it saves time, is convenient and can be easily accessed from anywhere. It saves your time and effort of visiting an Aadhaar enrollment centre, can be easily saved and one can easily share it digitally.
The digital Aadhaar also acts as a valid proof of identity and address for several purposes. Similar to a physical Aadhaar card, the e-Aadhaar also comes with a unique QR code making it tamper-proof.
