The last date for updating details on an Aadhaar card has been extended. If you have not updated your Aadhar card even once in the last 10 years, you have a chance to still update it for free. Unique Identification Authority of India has extended the date for free Aadhaar card updating to 14 December 2023.
By updating the details on your Aadhar card, you can avoid cases of fraud caused by your Aadhar card. People still have about three weeks left to update their Aadhaar card for free.
What information can be updated?
It is worth noting that if you update your Aadhar card after December 14, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 25. Now, what do we need to do to update our Aadhar card for free, and what information we can update?
you can update your Aadhaar card through the myAaadhar portal. To update Aadhaar details, people have to provide the required identity and residence proof through the official website. The process for free updates is available exclusively online and will not be valid at Aadhaar centers.
Step to update Aadhaar Card
Mainly you have two options to update your Aadhaar card. The first way is to go to the Permanent Enrollment Center
You will have to go to the government website uidai.gov.in and click on "Locate Enrollment System". Then, you will get information about the location of the nearest enrollment center.
Under the second method, you can update your Aadhaar card details using the Self Service Update Portal (SSUP). At uidai.gov.in, you will have to open SSUP and click on Update Aadhar Card (Online), in this way you can update your Aadhar Card online.
Generally, for updating biometrics or other details on an Aadhaar card, you have to pay a fee of Rs 50 to the service provider, which also includes taxes. You have to pay this fee every time you update your Aadhar card.
What services can be updated at Enrollment Centers?
As per information on the UIDAI website, "If you are visiting the Permanent Enrollment Centre, you will be required to complete the demographic (name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile, and email) and biometrics (fingerprint, iris, and Photograph) can get both updated."
